SALSANAMÁ

Rules

1) Throughout the entire 80 seconds of battle, complete basic steps must be performed, not interrupted by syncopated steps. At least 2 or 3 basic steps are required for every 40 seconds. Anyone who does not run any bases within 80 seconds is automatically disqualified.

2) The style of interpretation of the music must be at least 80% "salsero" and allowed a maximum fusion of 20% over the entire 80 seconds. Anyone who dances between 30% to 40% fusion without any salsa vocabulary will be penalized in the evaluation of the individual battle. Anyone who dances 50% or more fusion without any salsa vocabulary will be disqualified.

3) It is scored based on the following criteria.  30% Musicality. 30% Salsa technique and choreography. 15% The interpretation of the music in terms of style and expression or projection of facial and facial gestures. 15% The awareness of the marked time which remains as free interpretation, On1, On2, Break On2, On3, On4. But the important thing is that the competitor is aware. We evaluate how musicality is interpreted, specifically the difficulty or originality in interpreting the various moments of music. The remaining 10% which the judges could award are for if the two contenders perform the same, the judges could reward those who risked more.

4) The opponent who is not dancing must stand still and wait their turn without moving or playing the music while the other is dancing. A competitor not following this rule will be given a  warning. After 2 warnings, the competitor will be automatically disqualified.

5) No contestant must touch their opponent's body, neither with parts of the body nor with objects such as hats or handkerchiefs. Penalties will be applied.

6) For the A Mi Manera category, 70 bars, 80% fusion and 20% salsa are required. At least 2 full basics are required per 40 second round. Anyone who does not respect these rules will be penalized in the voting of the individual fight or disqualified

7) Men must wear men's dance shoes. Low canvas jazz shoes are not considered suitable. Women must wear women's dance shoes with heels. This applies to all categories except the "A Mi Manera" category.
